• Seismic data acquisition and processing is a big subject that we will not cover in detail today.

• The basic idea involves recording reflected P or S-waves as a function of offset, re-sorting the data into common mid-point (CMP) gathers, and processing these gathers using a variety of techniques.

• The recording geometry is shown in the next slide.
